For the purpose of deepening the public understandings of national major infrastructures and promoting governmental goals and actions, MOTC launched "Transportation Infrastructure Educational Tours" respectively in northern, middle, southern and eastern Taiwan and invited university professors to visit and experience the tour. Following the successful tour on April 11 in which MOTC invited scholars in transport management and civil engineering expertise, Minister Yeh again invited over 20 experts from different fields including public policies, management science and information management to a TIAA MRT Project tour.
The party was received by BOHSR and supervisors of MRT Engineering Office. Under the guidance of Deputy Director Wen-Liang Chen, the visitors were assembled at HSR Taoyuan Station and stopped first at the underpass between HSR Taoyuan Station and TIAA MRT Taoyuan Station (A18) to see the seamless transfer design. Next, they were led to the platform of HSR Taoyuan Station (A18) to see the passenger waiting areas and facilities. Subsequently, Chief Lin-Yao Kuo of Chungli Branch briefed on station's public arts and facilities and Acting Director General Hu supplemented on development contents of its commercial/manufacturing parks. Many participants were enthusiastic about the economic impacts to be brought out by the development plans.
The last stop of the tour was at the Operational Control Center at Chingpu Depot to view the construction process video of TIAA MRT Project. In addition, Brigade Chief Shao-Kuan Lu of MRT Engineering Office explained the functions of operational control center facilities for the visitors to have a better insight to the actual monitoring system and train dispatching in future operation. Lastly, the tour was ended in the discussion hosted by Minister Yeh in which participants provided many valuable suggestions.
