In this year's Tomb Sweeping Day, Taiwan HSR conducted traffic dispersing work for a period of six days starting from Apr. 2 to 7 to provide smooth traffic flow for HSR passengers. To cope with the passenger flow, 123 additional trains were dispatched including one non-reserved train. During the six-day dispersing period, a total of 949 trains were dispatched which was a 14.9% increase comparing to usual train frequency.
On Apr. 6, the peak on domestic travel, THSRC dispatched 183 trains and reached the frequency of 8 trains per hour, in other words, one train per 8 to 10 minutes. To correspond with the busy train schedule, THSRC adjusted the maintenance schedule of trains to raise operation loading.
During the day, total dispersed passenger count reached 1.06 million averaging 178 hundred passengers per day. Comparing to the average of 170 hundred passengers per day in 2014 Tomb Sweeping Day, a 4.5% increase was made. The peak of passenger count happened on Apr. 6, reaching 222,131 passengers.
During HSR traffic control in this years Tomb Sweeping Day, there were sufficient operative trains, well-mannered passengers, regular operation conditions, 100% train dispatch rate and 100% on-time rate. HSR functions were brought into full play, which resulted in the great success of traffic handling throughout western Taiwan.
