The International Bridge Conference (IBC) is an experience and resource exchanging forum cohosted by Engineers' Society of Western Pennsylvania and American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). The conference is held annually on the second week of June. From Jun. 8 to 10, 2015. This year conference was held in Pittsburg, U.S.A. in which Taiwan was invited as the featured country in the event. The details of the sponsoring booth were instructed by MOTC in which the HSR project was decided to be one of the themes.
In coordination with the theme of Taiwan booth, "SAFE Taiwan Symbiosis with the Environment", the HSR sub-theme included the following topics:
1. Introduction to the High-speed Rail Project.
2. HSR Disaster Warning System (inclusive of the bridge warning system and reaction strategy during earthquake, strong wind and flood).
3. Pheasant-tailed Jacana Preservation Project.
4. The Jinshan Old Tree Protection Project.
During the exhibition period, engineers, government officals and students from different areas of the United States expressed interest in the Taiwan HSR Project and were also impressed by the HSR technology. With the exhibition in 2015 IBC, BOHSR has not only successfully introduced Taiwan high-speed rail to the world but also absorbed experience and knowledge from other countries which will become future reference for bridge-related engineering in BOHSR.
