此三站的環保主要成果有4項，第1項是綠建築，三站皆取得綠建築標章，雲林站及彰化站取得黃金級綠建築標章，苗栗站更取得鑽石級綠建築標章。第2項是此三站皆設置太陽能發電設施，裝設於車站周邊迴廊或戶外人行通廊之頂部設置太陽能設施，並將其發電量併入車站大廳供電使用。依已設置太陽能設施之發電量每站約71-93KW不等，預估每年每站可節省電量達6-11萬度。第3項是雨水回收系統，苗栗站的雨水回收系統，其中雨水澆灌設備設定為全自動狀態（約75 m3/ day），雨水儲水槽設計容量為1,347.8 m3，均作為綠地澆灌用水，並未使用自來水補充。彰化站的雨水回收系統，其中雨水澆灌設備設定為全自動狀態（約134.9 m3/ day），雨水儲水槽設計容量為1,000 m3，均作為綠地澆灌用水，並未使用自來水補充。雲林站的雨水回收系統，其中雨水澆灌設備設定為全自動狀態（約157.1m3/day），於站前筏基及站體兩側已設置3座雨水儲水槽，且該雨水貯留槽設計容量為1,347 m3，均作為綠地澆灌用水，不足澆灌用水量才會啟動自來水補充。第4項為彰化站之廢水回收作業，經統計104年12月1日至105年2月29日止之廢水回收水量為3,265.79 m3，計算得此一時間平均廢水回收率約99.6 %（已比環評要求75 %更佳），回收廢水均作為植栽之澆灌用水。
According to statistics, the world's energy consumption of buildings accounts for 35% of global energy consumption and the derived greenhouse gas emissions account for about one-third of the world. Thus, in recent years, our government encouraged constructors to introduce the concept of sustainable environment including “ecology, energy conservation, waste reduction and health” into their architectural designs. When planning and designing the three additional HSR stations: Miaoli, Changhua and Yunlin, THSRC followed the environmental guidelines and made environmental efforts including choosing local industrial materials and equipment and reducing carbon emissions during construction period. In addition, they carried out green building, energy-saving and water conservation actions in consideration of energy-saving, carbon reduction and the existing 9 indexes of green building evaluation. There are 4 major environmental achievements of these three stations. The first achievement is green building: the three stations have obtained green building certifications in which Yunlin and Changhua stations were certified as the Gold level and Miaoli Station was certified as the Diamond level. The second achievement is that all three stations are installed with solar power generation facilities. The facilities are installed on top of stations corridors or outdoor pedestrian passages and the generated power are transmitted into the electricity supply for the station lobbies. According to the current generating capacity of 71-93kW at each station, estimated savings of electricity can reach up to 60-110 thousand degrees. The third achievement is the rainwater recycling system. For the rainwater recycling system in Miaoli Station, the rain-fed device is set at full automatic state (about 75 m3 / day) and the rainwater storage tank has a design capacity of 1,347.8 m3. All equipment is used as irrigation water for green land and tap water supplement is not utilized. For the rainwater recycling system in Changhua Station, the rain-fed device is also set at full automatic state (about 134.9 m3 / day) and the rainwater storage tank has a design capacity of 1,000 m3. All equipment is used as irrigation water for green land and tap water supplement is not utilized. As for the rainwater recycling system in Yunlin Station, the rain-fed device is set at full automatic state (about 157.1 m3 / day). The rainwater storage tanks are installed at the station raft foundation and both sides of the station. All three tanks have the design capacity of 1,347 m3. All related equipment is used as irrigation water for green land and tap water supplement is only used during shortage. The fourth achievement is the wastewater recycling operations in Changhua Station. According to statistics, the wastewater recycling amount is 3,265.79 m3 from Dec. 1 2015 to Feb. 29, 2016. Via calculation, the recycling rate is 99.6 %, which is superior to the regulated 75% and all recycled wastewater are used for plant irrigation.
Ever since the construction of high-speed rail, THSRC has paid special attention to the concept of sustainable environment and has dedicated to the implementation of environmental protection. After official operation of the three additional HSR stations on Dec. 1, 2015, the carbon reduction effect has been very significant. In solar power generation, The three stations can produce nearly 17,000kWh electricity each month. In the coming future, BOHSR and THSRC will continue to uphold the environmental concept of “love our land, friend to our earth” to manage high-speed rail transport, and anticipate all to strive for the well-being of Taiwan's environment.
