On Aug. 18, 2016, Political Deputy Minister of MOTC, Kwo-Tsai Wang, led MOTC associates to perform onsite inspection on the TIAA MRT Project to comprehend with the implementation status of the project. The inspectors rode the MRT to and from Taipei Main Station (A1) and Airport Terminal 2 Station (A13) to understand fully of actual operation. On the inspection day, the inspectors were received personally by BOHSR Director General Hsiang-Lin Hu leading Chief Engineer Wei-Li Chung, Division Director Tsao of MRT Engineering Office and relevant supervisors. Chairman Kuen-Yi Liu and General Manager Kai-Ling Chen of Taoyuan Metro Corp. and General Manager Deng-Ke Hsiao of Taoyuan Airport Corp. also attended the event.
Under the guidance of Director General Hu, Political Deputy Minister Wang experienced how passengers will arrive at Taipei Main Station (A1) from the car shuttle zone on the first base floor. Political Deputy Minister Wang also inspected the in-town check-in zone and practiced bag drop. Moreover, he learned about the operation of the flight information display board and bag drop equipment. Afterwards, the party walked to the passageway connecting the TIAA MRT station and TRA station to interpret the transfer route between the two systems. Via an introduction by a specialist in North District Project Office of DORTS, the Political Deputy Minister learned about the high-ceilinged design features in Taipei Main Station. The party took the elevator to the express train platform on the third base floor. They got on the MRT to ride to Airport Terminal 2 Station (A13) and experience the spatial and interior design of express train cabinets.
After arriving at Airport Terminal 2 Station (A13), Political Deputy Minister Wang to observe the baggage transportation equipment along the platform and interpret the operational method of the baggage transporting cabinets. Following, they went on to the station lobby to listen to a briefing by Taoyuan Metro Corp. on the transfer route for arrivals and departures from Airport Terminal 2 Station to the TIAA MRT system after official opening of the system in the near future.
Regarding this inspection, Political Deputy Minister Wang approved of the smoothness of the ride and was impressed with the current status of the TIAA MRT System. Political Deputy Minister Wang anticipated that domestic and foreign passengers will be satisfied with this transport system in the future and finally rode the TIAA MRT back to Taipei Main Station (A1) which successfully ended this inspection.
