BOHSR has vigorously held and promoted environmental education trainings each year. In 2016, BOHSR has carried out 7 trainings (including 5 outdoor trainings and 2 lectures). In addition to completing the environmental education regulation of requiring each associate to achieve 4 hours of learning hours, the trainings made associates understand high-speed rail-related environmental protection promotions and results and also learned other environmental protection philosophies certified by other environmental educational fields.
Three environmental education trainings were held in November. In the training on Nov. 21, Deputy Chief Engineer Jao led the trainees to visit environmental facilities in HSR Chiayi Station, the Jane Goodall Forum hosted by Chang Jung Christian University and the Tainan Pheasant-tailed Jacana Eco-Educational Nature Park. In addition, Deputy Chief Engineer Jao presented a gift to Dr. Jane Goodall on behalf of BOHSR for her many years of work in promoting the rehabilitation of water pheasants and environmental education. In the 6th training on Nov. 24, which is a keynote speech on environmental protection brought participating associates to realize that major construction projects can also have a positive impact on the environment. The last training was held on Nov.30. In the morning, Professor Ming-Song Shyu of Department of Architecture, Ming Chuan University, gave a tour on “City Museum in Taipei Expo Park - The Restoration Project of Architect Wang Da-hong's Resideuce on Jianguo S. Rd”; in the afternoon, the trainees visited 2 green buildings, the “Fubon Life Tunnan Building-Diamond Level Green Building” and “Fubon Fuan Building (Second Generation Green Building)”.
BOHSR has constantly held environment-related trainings for 15 years and the highlights of this year’s trainings are green building design and enhancement of ecological concepts. After years of promotional trainings, we discovered that participants valued the environment more and not only brought what they have learned in the trainings to work but also brought the concepts home to their families and friends. After many years of active promotion, many Facebook users and the THSR Newsletter, High Speed Vision, all began to report on the results of the implementation of BOHSR’s environmental education trainings.
Due to the efforts in the past few years, the BOHSR (including MRT Engineering Office) environmental education trainings have affected the participation of THSRC in Taiwan's environmental protection. In addition to continued energy conservation and carbon reduction work inside the company and its stations, THSRC is also be hosting a beach cleanup activity on Dec. 21 to participate in the protection of Taiwan's environment.
