The TIAA MRT System was officially launched on Mar. 2, 2017. In the “ ‘Directly to Happiness’ TIAA MRT Opening Ceremony” held at TIAA MRT Taipei Main Station (A1), Vice President Chien-Jen Chen, Minister of MOTC Hochen, Tan, Director General of BOHSR Hsiang-Lin Hu, Taoyuan City Mayor Wen-Tsan Cheng, Taipei City Mayor Wen-Je Ko and New Taipei City Deputy Mayor Shu-Chuan Lee attended the event.
In the speech from Vice President Chien-Jen Chen, he pointed out that to open the TIAA MRT System in the year of the rooster is a historic moment for all 8.8 million residents in Taipei, New Taipei and Taoyuan and also the demonstration of national portal transformation achievements. The total length of TIAA MRT is about 51 km, so that living circles of the three municipalities, Taipei, New Taipei and Taoyuan, will be closer. The system will also link Taiwan and the international society so that foreign friends can enjoy the convenient and friendly transport services, the warmth of Taiwanese people, as well as Taiwan's proud construction industry when arriving at our country. The vice president anticipated safe operation after the opening of the TIAA MRT, which will bring Taiwan to the international community and also the other way around so that the world can experience the hospitality of Taiwan.
Minister Hochen, Tan of MOTC expressed gratitude to the Transportation Committee, Legislative Yuan for requesting the establishment of the “TIAA MRT Supervision Investigation Committee” so that the problems are laid down under the sun. Then, the problems can be reviewed from a professional point of view which resulted in the successfully opening of the TIAA MRT System. In addition, the TIAA MRT System is a construction conducive to the tourism in Taiwan so MOTC will request each transport unit to adjust with the system so that all kinds of transportation can be properly connected with the TIAA MRT System. Furthermore, the system can increase joyful experience of foreign visitors which will enhance the willingness of foreign tourists to visit Taiwan and promote the development of tourism industry in Taiwan.
