In 2017's National Day Holidays, THSRC conducted traffic dispersing work for a period of six days starting from Oct. 6 to 11 to provide smooth traffic flow for HSR passengers. To cope with the passenger flow, 159 additional trains were dispatched including 6 non-reserved trains. During the six-day dispersing period, a total of 1,005 trains were dispatched which was an 18.8% increase comparing to usual train frequency. During the holidays, total dispersed passenger count reached 1.37 million averaging 228 thousand passengers per day. Oct. 10 was the peak of traffic for people to return back to work so as high as 190 trains were dispatched on that day and passenger count reached 276 thousand passengers, marking the highest passenger count in HSR history.
During HSR traffic dispersing operations in this year’s National Day Holidays, there were sufficient operative trains, well-scheduled additional trains, well-mannered passengers, regular operation conditions, 100% train dispatch rate and 99.4% on-time rate. HSR functions were brought into full play, providing safe, fast and convenient services to all passengers, resulting in the great success of traffic handling throughout western Taiwan.
