In 2018 New Year Holidays, THSRC conducted traffic dispersing work for a period of 5 days starting from Dec. 29, 2017 to Jan. 2, 2018 to provide smooth traffic flow for HSR passengers. To cope with the passenger flow, 109 additional trains were dispatched including 8 interim non-reserved trains. During the 5-day dispersing period, a total of 827 trains were dispatched which was a 15.2% increase comparing to usual train frequency.
During the 5-day dispersing period, total dispersed passenger count reached 1.1 million averaging 220 thousand passengers per day. On Jan. 1, the peak of domestic travel, THSRC dispatched 191 trains and reached passenger count of 285 thousand, marking the highest daily passenger count in THSRC's record.
During HSR traffic control in this year’s New Year Holidays, there were sufficient operative trains, appropriate timing for additional train dispatch, well-mannered passengers, regular operation conditions, 100% train dispatch rate and 100% on-time rate. HSR functions were brought into full play, which resulted in the great success of traffic handling throughout western Taiwan.
